The scene
A Persian messenger arrives in Sparta demanding that it submit to King Xerxes. When he calls refusing “madness”, Leonidas answers “Madness? This is Sparta!” and kicks him into a well.
The line is shouted, and the kick re-enacted, whenever someone responds to a small thing with total excess.
